Actress Lisa Janti, sometimes known as Lisa Montell, was born Irena Ludmila Vladimirovna Augustynowic of Russian and Polish ancestry. She worked in Hollywood from the 1950s to the 1960s. Prior to World War II, her family left Poland. She grew up as Irene Montwill because they changed their last name to Montwill when they arrived in New York.

The Beauty of America attended St. Lucie High School in Fort Pierce, Florida, for her senior year of high school. After graduating, she started attending classes at the University of Miami. Her family soon relocated to Peru since her father had business interests there. Although she was Polish, Janti was referred to as the “Starlet of Many Faces” because she played characters who had questionable cultural and sexist stereotypes, including Polynesians, Native Americans, Mexicans, Burmese, French, Italians, Spanish, East Indians, and Persians. Unfortunately, we must bid farewell to Lisa Montell, the iconic television Western actress. It is never easy to say goodbye to a respected celebrity turned activist. The Hollywood Reporter claims that Montell died on March 7 from sepsis and heart issues, leaving her granddaughter Tatiana and daughter Shireen Janti in her wake. At the time of her death, she was 89 years old.
